COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN
[Please Note: At this time tours will be limited to group size, pods of groups that have traveled together for select departures, and/or socially distanced measures for mixed groups. Face coverings are mandatory during select times; bring your own or you can purchase on-site.]
We are ready, more than ever for the ultimate digital detox. After starting the season alone down the river we can honestly say that we have missed you!
We have come up with the best way to still operate trips – with a few modifications of course.
COVID-19 – WHAT WE KNOW
Provincial Health Authorities continue to recommend against non-essential personal travel at this time, but we are excited to welcome in-town guests to enjoy KRC activities in Kimberley’s fun & relaxing outdoor spaces.
Outdoor recreation remains the most encouraged form of activity from the Provincial Health Authorities for its reduced risk of transmission, and the benefits of mental, physical, and emotional wellness.
To continue on the path toward wellness, we have created a Covid-19 Response Plan. Your family’s well-being has always been at the forefront of our operations.
PEACE OF MIND
Managing risk is what we do. Kootenay Raft Co. is committed to giving you peace of mind every step of the way. Working with guidelines set by the Provincial Health Officer and Best Practices encouraged by the BCROA (BC River Outfitters Association), the KRC team has put the following measures in place to make your experience as safe and enjoyable as possible ( To read our full Co Covid-19 Response Plan, click here)
NEW POLICIES IN PLACE
Outdoor Meeting location instead of indoors: We now meet at KRC’s open-air Bootleg Basecamp for outdoor check-in and gear outfitting. Location in your confirmation email.
Face Coverings: Mandatory for all people during enclosed transport. Enforcing physical distancing of at least 2m whenever possible and use of non-medical masks (buff style face coverings for safety and comfort), when physical distancing isn’t possible.
Limiting group size. Transportation for our activities will not exceed 24 people.
Payment by credit card or debit only.
Cleaning & Sanitation Policy and Checklists
Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols and frequency including all gear, vehicles, and surfaces that follow government and industry guidelines.
Gear such as paddle handles, river booties, life jackets, and wetsuits will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected then put in rotation.
Employee Illness & Health Monitoring Policy
Daily monitoring of our staff’s health.
Guest Health Monitoring Checklist
Monitoring of guest’s health. Every group will be emailed a self-assessment prior to their trip and each guest will sign a declaration of health again on their arrival, including:
- have you experienced a new onset of cold or flu-like symptoms within the last 14 days?
- have you been in close contact with anyone with Covid-19 related symptoms in the last 14 days?
- have you traveled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?
- do you consent to contact tracing?
Peace of Mind Cancellation Policy
Travel with peace of mind. KRC has implemented a 100% refund cancellation policy for COVID related illness or COVID related restrictions to your travel.
Employee COVID-19 Training
Detailed and ongoing staff training of our COVID-19 Response Plan, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing protocols.
Continuous review of our policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government and industry guidelines and to increase safety and experience to our guests and staff.
YOUR COOPERATION – NEW POLICIES IN PLACE FOR GUESTS
Guest Illness & Health Policy
Do not book an activity or rentals if you’re feeling sick or showing symptoms of Covid-19 (fever, cough, sore throat, sneezing, difficulty breathing), have been around someone who’s sick or has Covid-19, or have returned back to Canada in the last 14 days.
Physical Distancing Policy & Face Coverings
Maintain physical distancing (minimum of 2 m) whenever possible. Wear non-medical face covering on when distancing measures is not possible. As required by Transport Canada, face coverings are required when traveling on the bus. Buffs are available for purchase.
Cleaning & Sanitation Policy and Checklists
Wash and sanitize your hands regularly. Sanitation stations will be available in our office, vehicles, and outfitting area. Sanitization of hands is required before and after using point of sale equipment, retail purchases, transportation, and handling personal snacks. Please sign your digital waiver that is sent via a link in our confirmation email prior to your trip to avoid unnecessary contact.
Attire & Personal Belongings
To reduce the risk of transmission, please arrive prepared. Although we have outdoor change rooms available at the start of the trip, we recommend wearing your swimwear under your clothes. Pack a small bag with a towel and dry clothes for changing on the bus after the trip. Leave unnecessary items in your hotel or vehicle.
All participants in KRC tour activities and rentals must agree to contact tracing. Your name and group members’ names, date and time of activity, and contact information will be recorded for contract tracing measures. This ensures that you or other participants will be informed in the event of a COVID related outbreak.
Zero Tolerance Policy
As Dr. Henry encourages, “Be calm, be kind, be safe”. Please be patient and respectful during this fluid time. For the health, safety, and enjoyment for all of our guests, please abide by the COVID Response policies outlined. These policies have been adopted from the Ministry of Health and BC Rivers Outfitters Association to allow us to be able to provide activities and rentals during this uncertain time. If you are unable to comply you will be asked to leave. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
